Will aggressive registration bring young voters to polls?

Young voters have a real excitement for Obama, but those voters are notoriously difficult to get to the polls. Students are engaged in the presidential race because of issues such as global warming and the Iraq war, said R.J. Raley, who is registering voters on campus for the Florida Public Interest Research Group. The group’s non-partisan New Voters Project isn’t taking any chances that newly registered voters won’t cast ballots. |

The power of the veto should not be exercised lightly, but it should be used in times where the obvious limitations of one branch have precluded the good will of the people. Senate Bill 900 is a prime example of how those with money, power and influence overshadow the voices of the citizens. The limitations to the initiative process contained in this bill will serve no clear benefit to the public interest. |
