Sign the Petition to Save Internet Radio
Internet
radio has given the American public a new and innovative outlet for
news and music. Internet radio gives new musicians and new ideas a
chance to grow and get around the choke-hold corporate broadcasters
have over the airwaves. Unfortunately, the Copyright Royalty Board's
decision to increase rates threatens the very survival of this new
online resource. This decision will not only reduce the diversity of
music but will kill growing webcasters and a brand new marketplace for
innovative entrepreneurs and musicians.
We
strongly urge you to support the bipartisan "Internet Radio Equality
Act of 2007" (H.R. 2060) which was introduced in the House by Reps. Jay
Inslee (D-Wash.) and Donald Manzullo (R-Ill.). This legislation would
put in place a fair compensation system for artists without destroying
the new webcasting marketplace and will overturn the destructive
decision by the Copyright Royalty Board.
